TCU women’s tennis team will travel to Midland next weekend to take part in the Midland Invitational.

This season’s roster will have some familiar faces, but six new Frogs have been added to the family, as well. Two Southeastern Conference transfers, Millie Nichols and Kelsey Sundaram, two international first-year freshmen players, Stefanie Tan and Simona Parajova, one first-year sophomore and a walk-on student, Gaby Fernandez, will be volleying for the Frogs this year.

TCU Head Coach Dave Borelli said the squad has added depth in singles and strength in doubles play.

“In terms of quality players, this is one of the strongest recruiting years I’ve had at TCU,” he said.

For sophomore transfer Millie Nichols, competing on the Horned Frog tennis team is a family affair.

Her sister, Kewa Nichols, was a member of the team from 2005 to 2008, and brother Zach Nichols wrapped up his final season of competition for the men’s squad last year.

Millie has already had a successful start as a Frog. She claimed two singles and doubles titles at two Intercollegiate Tennis Association Summer Circuit events. For her second doubles title, Nichols teamed up with fellow transfer Kelsey Sundaram to snag their accolade. 

Returning for the squad will be Federica Denti, Gaby Mastromarino, Oliva Smith and Molly Welsh.

Mastromarino will be the lone senior on the women’s team. Last year, Mastromarino played only two doubles matches in the fall and battled through injuries during her spring season.
