Presentations given by new sororities

As TCU Panhellenic Council looks to expand its community, four sororities will be hosting presentations over this week and next week in the Brown-Lupton University Union Ballroom to share information about their organizations. A committee of Panhellenic students and advisers will select two of the four organizations to join the TCU Greek community. The presentations, which began Monday, help in the selection process and are open to all of campus to attend. This week, Delta Phi Epsilon presented on Monday and Alpha Gamma Delta will present Wednesday from 3-4:30 p.m. Next week, Phi Mu will present Monday from 3-4:30 p.m. and Alpha Omicron Pi will present on Wednesday from 3-4:30 p.m. 

Delta Phi Epsilon

Founded: March 17, 1917 at New York University Law School

Alpha Gamma Delta

Founded: May 30, 1904 at the home of Dr. Wellesley Perry Coddington, a professor at Syracuse University
Motto: “Live with Purpose”
Philanthropy: Diabetes awareness and education
Mission: An international fraternity for women that exists to provide opportunities for personal development through the spirit of sisterhood.
Colors: Red, Buff and Green
Flower: Red and Buff Roses with Green Asparagus Ferns
Mascot: Squirrel
Interesting Fact: The Alpha Gamma Delta vision is “Inspire the Woman. Impact the World.”

Phi Mu

Founded: January 4, 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia
Motto: “The Faithful Sisters”
Philanthropy: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Mission: A women’s organization which provides personal and academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence and lifelong friendship through a shared tradition. Phi Mu promotes vibrant living, encouraging members to achieve their personal best.
Colors: Rose and White
Flower: Rose Carnation
Mascot: Lion
Interesting Fact: Second oldest sorority in the nation.

Alpha Omicron Pi

Founded: January 2, 1897 at Barnard College on the campus of Columbia University in N.Y.
Motto: “Exceed the Expectation”
Philanthropy: Arthritis Research and Education
Mission (Object): To encourage a spirit of Fraternity and love among its members; to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship and college loyalty.
Color: Cardinal
Flower: Rose
Mascot: Panda (unofficial)
