TCU Equestrian’s Hunt Seat team will open its season Saturday against rival SMU at BuckBranch Farm in Wilmer, Texas. This will be the first competition for new head coach, Logan Fiorentino, who joins the Frogs after an extremely successful coaching career at Georgia. Fiorentino helped lead the Bulldogs to a hunt seat national championship in 2010 and the hunt seat reserve national championship in 2011.

The team will be looking to build on a highly successful 2010-2011 campaign, which culminated in an opening round victory over Kansas State University in the national championship tournament. 

The Frogs are led by seniors Taylor Frederick and Victoria Lee. 

Frederick earned six victories and one MVP honor and Lee earned four victories last season. 

Junior Callie Selchau was an honorable mention All-American last year, the first Frog to win the award in the history of the program. 

SMU is coming off a close loss (7-5) to Baylor in an exhibition match. 

The Frogs own a 4-2 series record over SMU.  They have won three of the past four, including last year’s 7-4 victory over the Mustangs.

There is always a little extra motivation when TCU and SMU face each other, Fiorentino said. 

“I’m really excited to start our competition season against SMU,” he said. “They are a great team and this will be a great match-up for us as we begin our fall schedule. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the hard work these young ladies have put forward pay off.”

After the season opener against SMU, TCU will be on the road to take on a pair of Southeastern Conference schools: Auburn and South Carolina.

”We all have been working really hard and I expect to win this weekend,” Frederick said.” We want to win a National Championship this year and definitely want to be in the top-four going into nationals.”
