The current renovation of Amon G. Carter stadium has affected more than just fans. The TCU Marching Band was required to find temporary practice facilities because of the ongoing construction.

“For the band, it’s been a little bit challenging because we have moved locations for practicing,” sophomore instrumental performance major Danielle Bishop said. “We can’t practice on the field before the game, so we are just hoping that we perform really well.”

The band is no longer able to use their normal practice spot for weekly practice. Instead, they are using a parking lot farther from campus.

Junior business major Jordan Hatch said finding a new location was harder than she anticipated.

“We have moved a couple of times trying to find a place to practice, and now we are way far out in the parking lot,” Hatch said.

Junior music education major Thomas Kober said the location change made it harder to arrive to practice on time.

“We used to practice right behind the stadium in lot 2, and now we are way back behind the stadium in lot 4, which is actually almost not even on campus,” Kober said. “It’s kind of a stretch to get out here sometimes. ”

The band was also used to practicing on the field the day of the game, Bishop said.

“We are practicing indoors now even thought the yard lines are off,” Bishop said. “But I know we will get it done. ”

Despite the changes, Bishop said the temporary inconvenience was worth it.

“It’s a little bit of a challenge, but the stadium looks great,” Bishop said. “We are excited to march in the brand new stadium. ”
