Women’s Soccer head coach Dan Abdalla resigned Thursday morning, athletic director Chris Del Conte said.

“I am truly thankful to the TCU community and Chris Del Conte for the opportunities provided to me and my family,” Abdalla said. “I feel we’ve significantly progressed the program, and I am excited about the future of TCU soccer. I want to thank all the people who make TCU such a special place and have been so great to work with, from the chancellor to the athletics administration, support staff, coaches, grounds crew and, most importantly, the student-athletes.”

“We thank Dan for his contribution to TCU and the time and effort he put into our women’s soccer program,” Del Conte said. “We wish him the very best in the future.”

Abdalla just finished his seventh season as head coach. His overall record at TCU was 57-65-9. He was the second head coach in TCU women’s soccer history.

Abdalla was the head coach at UNLV for five seasons before coming to TCU in 2005 and won the Mountain West Championship with the Rebels in 2004. His overall record is 111-103-17.

The Frogs (7-11-1) finished their season Wednesday night after a 2-1 double overtime loss to Wyoming at the Mountain West Soccer Championship quarterfinals.

A source said the team was informed during a meeting Thursday morning.

“We’re going to begin a national search to find the best candidate to lead that program,” Jack Hesselbrock, associate athletic director, said.
