Slideshow: Men’s basketball team full of new faces

The TCU men’s basketball team welcomes five new faces to the court this season.

Kyan Anderson – 5-foot-11 / 175 pounds – freshman

Anderson is a Fort Worth area native who played high school basketball at North Crowley High School. He was listed as the No. 3 point guard in Texas coming out of high school. He led all Texas Class 5A players in assists. Anderson averaged 14.1 points and 6.0 assists per game during his senior year, which was slowed by an injury. The Panthers went 31-6 and finished in the regional semifinals.

Nate Butler – 6-foot-6 / 200 pounds – junior transfer

Butler transferred from John A. Logan College in Illinois, where he averaged 13.7 points and 6.4 rebounds. The Puerto Rico native played for the 2007 International Basketball Federation under-19 World Championships before starting college ball. JucoJunction.com ranked him as the No. 107 junior college prospect for this season. He led John A. Logan in assists and steals.

Connell Crossland – 6-foot-7 / 190 pounds – junior transfer

Crossland played with Butler at John A. Logan College , where he averaged 17 points and 12.3 rebounds. He was ranked No. 4 nationally among Division I junior college players. He was also looked at by Missouri, Gonzaga and San Diego State. Crossland grew up in St. Louis, Mo.

Adrick McKinney – 6-foot-8 / 250 pounds – junior transfer

McKinney adds considerable size to a small Horned Frogs team. At 250 pounds, he is the heaviest player on the team, which averages just more than 200 pounds. The Fort Worth native transferred from Angelina College in Lufkin, where he ranked among the top 50 Junior College prospects on JucoJunction.com. He averaged 15.1 points and 8.4 rebounds a game this past season.

Craig Williams – 6-foot-8 / 240 pounds – senior transfer

Williams comes to TCU after four years at Temple. He missed all of this past season at Temple with an injury but will not have to use a redshirt to play next season. He already has a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Williams is from the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds for St. Croix Central High School.
