Theatre TCU continued its fall season on Tuesday with an adaptation of George Farquhar’s restoration comedy “The Beaux’ Stratagem.”

Krista Scott, an assistant professor of voice and acting, directed Thornton Wilder and Ken Ludwig’s adaptation of the play. Ludwig co-adapted the show for the Shakespeare Theater Company in 2004. Scott changed the time frame of the play to approximately 50 years later than  Farquhar’s original setting in the early eighteenth century.

The scoundrel characters Aimwell and Archer are performed by Zach Gamet, a junior musical theatre major and Bradley Gosnell, a sophomore theatre major.

Gamet’s previous works include roles in “Oklahoma!”, “The Playwright’s Stage” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

“The Beaux’ Stratagem” recounts a cautionary tale of two fashionable beaux with a cunning strategy.

The scoundrels, played by Gosnell and Gamet, have fallen on hard times and try to turn their fortunes around by devising a plan which involves them traveling through various small towns, entrapping young heiresses, stealing money, and moving on to the next.

“The Beaux’ Stratagem” will continue until Nov. 20.
