St. Andrew’s first grade students celebrated America’s early history and upcoming Thanksgiving with Colonial Day on Friday.
Students dressed up as pilgrims and Native Americans while enjoying some traditional and modern activities. Activities included tug-of-war, doll and jewelry making, churning butter, relay races, and writing what they were thankful for.
The events of the day were planned to incorporate the last two weeks of class during which the kids learned about the activities and history of Native Americans and early European settlers, Sara Kershaw, a St. Andrew teacher, said
The student pilgrims and Native Americans of St. Andrew’s may not have had as many hardships as the reals ones, but they definitely had more fun.
