TCU started out its season 3-0 for the first time since 2007 before losing its final two games at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Frogs already have an impressive win over Virginia on their resume.
The Frogs’ next two games are against a good Lamar team and Evansville. Texas Tech comes to town on Dec. 6 for the first game any TCU team will play against a future Big 12 opponent. Here’s a look at the Frogs’ season, by the numbers.
1-The number of rebounds Adrick McKinney had versus Ole Miss in the Paradise Jam. McKinney has totally changed TCU’s inside game with his physicality, and his rebounding will be crucial to the team’s success. Head coach Jim Christian was really encouraged by McKinney’s double-double in the second game of the season.
2-The number of games left on the schedule before TCU takes on Texas Tech in a Big 12 preview game. TCU knocked off Texas Tech a year ago in Lubbock, and the Red Raiders will come to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Dec. 6.
3-The number of seconds left on the clock when J.R. Cadot missed a layup with his team down one to Houston. Cadot grabbed his own miss and flipped a shot up over his head that went in as time expired, giving the Frogs an 81-80 victory over the resilient Cougars.
4-The number of wins TCU currently has. The Frogs are 4-2 and already boast quality wins over Virginia and Houston.
5-The number of points per game currently being averaged by freshman point guard Kyan Anderson. Anderson is averaging almost 19 minutes per game and has a bright future at the point guard position after Hank Thorns graduates.
6-The number of points that the Lamar Cardinals trailed the University of Louisville by in the second half. Lamar fell to Louisville but gave the Cardinals a scare in the second half. TCU will face Lamar on Wednesday. Lamar has won three games in a row and two in a row on the road. The Cardinals are the best mid-major team TCU will play this season.
7-The number of offensive rebounds grabbed this season by junior wing man Connell Crossland. Though Crossland has averaged just 9 minutes per game, he has grabbed an average of at least one offensive board per game. That type of contribution is often overlooked in the box scores.
8-The number of rebounds that senior forward, J.R. Cadot, has averaged per game. Cadot is not the tallest player on TCU’s team, but his athleticism and hard-nosed style have made him the Frogs’ best on the glass. Cadot is also second on the team with an average of 11.2 points per game.
9-The number of high-flying dunks junior forward Garlon Green has had in the first six games of the season. Green has electrified the crowds in every gym he has played in thus far this season.
10-The number of points per game averaged by sophomore Amric Fields. Fields scored 14 points in the first half of the game against Houston. At 6’9”, Fields is a constant mismatch for opposing defenses because of his ability to shoot the ball behind the arc.
TCU’s next game will be against Lamar this Wednesday in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum at 7 p.m. Lamar is 4-2 on the season.
