TCU basketball over the holidays

While TCU students are taking a break from finals over the next few weeks, TCU men’s basketball will be busy.

TCU basketball plays six games, four games at home over winter break.

The Frogs kick off the break on the road against USC. The Trojans have struggled so far, starting off 4-6 on the season. They have already lost to three Mountain West teams — San Diego State, UNLV and New Mexico.

TCU then starts a four-game home stretch against winless Grambling State on Dec. 22. The Tigers have played a few tough teams, and all but one of their games this season has been on the road.

The next game will be New Year’s Eve against Tulsa. The Golden Hurricanes are 4-6 on the season, including a heart-breaking loss to Oklahoma State on the road.

The Frogs’ first game of 2012 will be against in-state rival Rice on Jan. 4. The Owls are 6-2, but have played an easy schedule to date. They have only played one game away from Houston and have tough road games against No. 22 Texas A&M and Texas before taking on TCU.

TCU finishes its homestand against UT Pan-American on Jan. 11. The Broncos are 3-8 on the season and finished the previous season in last place of the Great West Conference.

The Frogs finish off winter break on Jan. 14 when they take on Colorado State in Fort Collins to kick off MWC play. The Rams are 5-4 so far, including a 65-64 win over in-state rival Colorado. The Rams graduated their two leading scorers last season, including All-MWC first team selection Andy Ogide.
