TCU purchases .xxx domain names

If you’re looking to buy TCU.xxx, you’re too late.

Domain registration for the .xxx, adult entertainment top-level domains, started early December and TCU snapped up multiple domains to avoid any confusion.

TCU bought multiple .xxx domains to avoid others purchasing and using a site with TCU’s name, TCU Director of Communications Lisa Albert said in an email.

According to a domain name database, WHOIS, TCU purchased GoFrogs.xxx, TCU.xxx, HornedFrogs.xxx and TCUFrogs.xxx.

TCU Technology Recourses led the project to protect TCU’s brand and prevent another group from having control over a website with TCU’s name, Albert said.

Domain registration started Dec. 6 on a first come, first serve basis.

“In general, TCU is careful about how its name, logos and identity are used and this was simply another precautionary measure,” Albert said.
