Fort Worth police said Tuesday that the death of a student last week was "an apparent suicide," according to an email.
Mackenzie Logan Workman, a 19-year-old TCU student, was found dead at the Grand Marc Apartments at 4:11 p.m. on Sunday, according to a police report.
The Fort Worth Medical Examiner still lists the cause and manner of death as pending.
According to the 2011-2012 Neeley Fellows Directory, Workman was a sophomore majoring in finance and accounting. Workman was a member of the John V. Roach Honors College and a Neeley Fellow.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of this member of our community and our hearts and thoughts are with Mackenzie’s family at this time,” Kathy Cavins-Tull, TCU vice chancellor for student affairs, said in an email sent by Lisa Albert, TCU director of communications. “We have staff members available if students need to speak with someone about the loss of Mackenzie.”
According to Albert’s email, police do not suspect foul play. If Workman’s death is determined as a suicide, it would mark the fifth suicide in two years at TCU.
Staff from the counseling center and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life are available during regular work hours or by calling TCU Police at 817-257-7777.
