Welcome back! As the TCU community adjusts to new classes, schedules and buildings, the Daily Skiff has taken on some new changes as well. With you and all of our readers in mind, we have decided to take a new approach to covering our campus news.
The first thing you probably noticed was the multiple news stories on the front and back covers. This new approach stemmed from the idea that readers could get a variety of hard news stories just by glancing at the cover. That way, whether you have five minutes to read the Skiff or fifty, you can be up-to-date with the day’s top headlines.
We have worked to include more visual elements with the stories to guide readers through our pages. Whether it is a photograph, a map or a small Twitter feed, our staff believes in providing news not just with written words, but also with graphics that make the news easier to digest. Plus, everyone loves looking at pretty pictures!
This semester you can also expect to see features every Tuesday and Thursday, and arts and entertainment will round out the week on Friday. We hope this will add that extra flare to our daily content and cater to those who crave stories with a more personal touch.
And, for our readers who love to see our student columns in the opinion section, get excited. Like some semesters in the past, we will return to having an opinion section each day that will include opinion columns on numerous topics and our daily editorial, “The Skiff View.”
We are extremely excited about these changes, and we hope you are too! While some are prominent changes and others are smaller tweaks, we believe each one will help the Skiff evolve into an even more valuable on-campus news source.
As always, feel free to write to us at [email protected] with any feedback or story tips. We love hearing from our readers. And for the entire Skiff staff, I wish you the best in this semester and all your times at TCU. Go Frogs!
