Women’s basketball team to face Wyoming

The TCU women’s basketball team will finish the first half of its conference games tonight in Wyoming.

With a win tonight, the Lady Frogs could earn their fourth consecutive conference win after beating the New Mexico Lobos 63-56, last Saturday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Freshman center Ashley Colbert scored the most points against New Mexico with 11 points in the last game. Senior guard Antoinette Thompson was the second-highest scorer with 10 points.

TCU’s conference record is 4-2, with an overall record at 11-10. The team’s two previous conference wins came from games on the road against the Boise State Broncos and Air Force Falcons.

The Lady Frogs have outscored their first half total points 13 different times this season, which include three out of the last four games.

Currently, the Lady Frogs are ranked No. 18 for field-goal percentage defense and No. 11 for blocked shots per game, according to NCAA.com.

The Wyoming Cowgirls have a 7-12 overall record and a 3-3 record in conference play. Wyoming will also come into tonight’s game fresh off of a win against Boise State last Saturday, 84-64.

Junior forward Chaundra Sewell was one of four players in double-figures with a 19-point, 10 rebound outing against Boise State. Top players for Wyoming are Sewell, who leads the team by averaging 13.1 points per game, and junior forward Ashley Sickles, who averages 12.3 points per game.

The last time the Lady Frogs and Cowgirls played was Feb. 12, 2011 when the Lady Frogs won 65-54 at home. The two teams have met 19 times with TCU currently leading the series 11-7.

TCU will be looking for their third straight win on the road against Wyoming.
