TCU Police has increased the number of police and security guards patrolling in response to an assault incident, according to an email by Detective Vicki Lawson.
According to a crime alert sent by TCU Police Sunday night, a female student was physically assaulted near the Tom Brown/Pete Wright parking lot early Sunday morning.
Police wrote the woman was walking toward Clark Hall at about 1:15 a.m. when she saw a man walking from the parking lot. The man called to her as if he knew her, according to the alert.
The woman walked to the man who was “extremely intoxicated and stumbling around,” according to the alert. When the woman got close enough the man grabbed her. She fought and was able to run away, according to the alert.
The email said the man was white, more than 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing khaki pants and brown shoes. He was also wearing a green, collared, cotton, long-sleeved shirt. He has not been identified yet, according to Lawson.
TCU Police were notified at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to the alert. TCU Police notified students at 11:11 p.m. Sunday.
TCU Police are investigating the case, according to Lawson.
TCU Police issued the following warnings in the crime alert email.
Do:
- Leave outside lights on at night and keep lights on in more than one room.
- Secure all doors and windows
- Before walking several blocks home from campus call for an escort.
- Always lock your door when going to the rest room.
- CALL CAMPUS POLICE FOR ESCORTS at 7777.
- Keep car doors locked at all times; even if you are going into a place for a short time.
- Always look in your back seat before entering your car.
- Always have keys ready to unlock the car door and enter without delay. Never walk across the parking lot digging in your purse for your keys. Have them in your hand before leaving a building.
- Always park in well lighted areas.
Don't
- DO NOT WALK ALONE!
- DO NOT JOG ALONE!
- DO NOT ENTER YOUR RESIDENCE ALONE IF ANYTHING SEEMS SUSPICIOUS.
- DO NOT PROP DOORS OR WINDOWS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
- DO NOT EXIT YOUR VEHICLE WITHOUT BEING AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.
