Rifle team on the road at UTEP

The TCU rifle team will finish its last road trip of the regular season against the University of Texas at El Paso this Saturday.
TCU remains the only undefeated team in the country after beating Air Force 4695-4618. The Horned Frogs have won 28 straight regular season matches.
Junior Sarah Scherer earned first place in both smallbore (587) and air rifle (599). Scherer has placed first in both smallbore and air rifle in all matches this season.
Junior Sarah Beard finished second after firing a 583 in smallbore.
TCU fired its second-highest team score of the season in air rifle, shooting 2365.
The Horned Frogs earned the top three spots in air rifle. Junior Caitlin Morrissey finished second in air rifle with a score of 590, matching her season high. Beard finished in third place with a score of 589.
TCU opened the 2011-12 season against UTEP in October. The Horned Frogs earned a 4695-4630 victory over the Miners.
UTEP is ranked No. 4 in the nation, according to NCAA.com. It is the highest rank of the team in UTEP program history.
The last time in action, the Miners earned first place at the Withrow Tournament in Murray, Ky., where UTEP shot an aggregate score of 2316 in smallbore and 2344 in air rifle.
In smallbore, senior Alix Moncada (585), sophomore Andrea Vautrin (582) and freshman
Jennifer Armendariz (576) all finished in the top 10 of the event.
Moncada and Vautrin both shot 587 and finished in the top 10 in air rifle.
The Miners will face the Frogs at the UTEP Rifle Range in El Paso.
