TheCrew creates campus wide competition

With a one-night competition, theCrew hopes to strengthen relationships among the university’s student body, team leader Alex Erwin said.

The event, called the ‘Chaotic Crusade’ was created in the spirit of the 90’s games shows like the “Legends of the Hidden Temple” and “Double Dare,” Erwin said.

Representatives from student dorms, apartments, greek housing and students living off campus will make up 52 teams consisting of two people each.

These teams would take turns at 20 gaming stations that include games of answering trivia questions and one game Erwin calls ‘Bouncesketball.’ In ‘Bouncesketball,’ in the span of 30 seconds, each team member must bounce on a trampoline and make a slam dunk 3 times, she said.

The winning team would claim two prizes, Erwin said. The first prize would be a choice between Mavericks tickets, Stars tickets or Drake concert tickets. Erwin said that the second prize would remain a surprise until the winner was declared.

Marketing team members Blake Burch and Ellie Smotherman said they would use every source available to help spread awareness and interest in the competition. They said students could expect updates on theCrew’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Erwin said interested teams could sign up online February 13-17.

Erwin said participating teams would be encouraged to bring friends to the competition because of an added cheerleader bonus. The cheerleader bonus would award teams additional points for every person cheering them on during the entire event, she said. Erwin said she hoped to attract additional attendance with this twist.

Assistant team leader, Paul Elliott will serve as the host and said he hoped it would be the most fun TCU event since Frog Camp.

“It will be a fun, nostalgic mess that will create an unforgettable TCU memory,” Elliott said
