Women’s tennis, equestrian win over the weekend

Here's a quick recap of how a few other TCU teams fared over the weekend:

Women’s Tennis

Although TCU entered the match with a limited roster due to injuries, the No. 47 women’s tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak Sunday afternoon with a 4-3 win over No. 32 Oklahoma on the road. Sophomore Gabi Barbosa debuted in her TCU career and clinched the match in singles play. Senior Gaby Mastromarino and freshman Simona Parajova teamed up for the second-straight match and won 8-0. Junior Kelsey Sundaram and freshman Stefanie Tan were able to clinch the point for the Frogs in doubles, 8-3.

Equestrian

In the Best in the West Invitational, No. 9 TCU swept all four MVP accolades Sunday as the Horned Frogs defeated No. 10 Tennessee-Martin, 9-7 in Fresno, Calif. Juniors Haley Jacobi and Callie Selchau, senior Courtney Chown and freshman Samantha Bayer all earned MVP honors. Freshman Kaitlin Perry also earned her third win of the year in equitation over fences. The western team fell to Fresno State 6-2 and tied with Tennessee-Martin but lost in raw score. The hunt seat team defeated both Fresno State and Tennessee-Martin in the weekend tournament, improving their record to 4-4-2 on the year.

Women’s Golf

The Horned Frogs’ 289 was the best score in second-round play at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla. The 44th-ranked Horned Frogs trail No. 25 Oklahoma by just two strokes for the team lead. The Horned Frogs are ahead of three top-10 teams (No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 6 North Carolina and No. 7 LSU). Sophomore Sanna Nuutinen is tied for second individually to lead TCU into second place. Senior Brooke Beeler and freshman April McCoy are tied for 14th individually.
