Lady Frogs host Falcons tonight

The TCU women’s basketball team will host Air Force Wednesday after capturing a conference win over Boise State.

The Lady Frogs (13-13 overall, 6-5 MWC) beat Boise State 73-69 Saturday to snap a two game losing streak.

Freshman guard Natalie Ventress led the Frogs with 23 points. Sophomore center Latricia Lovings had a career high 14 points and 9 rebounds.

Head coach Jeff Mittie said he was concerned with the team’s physical and mental fatigue coming off back-to-back road games.

“It’s a big win for us,” Mittie said. “I have felt like our team is playing better basketball, but when you lose close games, it hurts.”

Ventress said the team needed the win to stay motivated and keep playing hard.
Air Force (5-21 overall, 0-11 MWC) fell to San Diego State 59-46 Saturday.

The Lady Falcons had three players in double figures. Junior forward Dymond James led the team with 16 points. Junior forward Katie Hilbig and sophomore guard Cherae Medina chipped in 10 points apiece.

Even though Air Force sits at the bottom of the league, Lovings said TCU should not underestimate them.

“I know they’re ready to go,” Lovings said. “I know they’re ready to win the game so they’re gonna come out fighting, scratching, clawing. So we just have to get in there and play hard just like we did today.”

Earlier this season, the Lady Frogs beat the Lady Falcons 66-44. TCU used a 27-4 second half run to grab the win.

Mittie said the team will look to build off of the Boise State win. He wants to get the centers more involved in the game, something the team will focus on in practice.

“This is the first time we’ve been home for an extended week and so hopefully this will give us a good week of practice,” Mittie said.

TCU returns to the court Wednesday against Air Force at home. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. local time.
