TCU hosts Texas State tonight

After a 2-1 series at Cal State Fullerton, the baseball team returns home to begin an eight-game homestand against Texas State tonight.

“I feel much better about our team today than I did before we left, which is weird to say considering we lost the series,” head coach Jim Schlossnagle said.

Despite losing the last game of the series 11-10 by playing poorly in one inning on Sunday, he said he was pleased with the way the team played the entire weekend.

“[I] really learned about the character of our team and their willingness to fight and compete and come back from a deficit, all the things that normally sustain a team over the course of an entire season,” Schlossnagle said.

TCU took the first game of the series with a 3-2 win Friday.

On Saturday, TCU came back to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the eighth, but the Frogs were unable to keep Cal State from scoring a pair of runs for the 4-2 win.

Schlossnagle said it is still early, and he wants the younger team members to continue to gain experience throughout the season.

The next match-up is Texas State (4-3), which Schlossnagle said is not a team to underestimate. He said he considers the Bobcats a top-40 program.

TCU has won the last eight games against Texas State. The Bobcats will be looking for their first win against the Frogs since 2006.
