After graduating from TCU last fall, Prevost Foushee decided to stay local to develop and promote an apparel line that includes shirts and sunglasses.
Goose Party is a brand created by Foushee to bring his love of music through apparel to a large audience.
“The brand represents a love for what you do,” Foushee said. “It's really that simple.”
But it is more than just clothes and Goose Party is more than the average apparel company. It is a brand that embodies the love and joy of music that applies to everything else, Foushee said.
Since it is easier for every day people to create music of their own, there are a lot of new opportunities for individuals to create new enterprises, Foushee said.
The entrepreneur wants Goose Party to be less about fashion and more about creating a lifestyle. Foushee said apparel is just one part of the equation for this brand.
“I think my major [marketing] has helped me understand some of the hurdles that I would be encountering and how to prepare for them,” Foushee said. “I also learned how to create an effective marketing plan and how to implement it.”
Foushee has had experience in the field of starting a company. The summer before his senior year at TCU he worked on a social networking project.
But, after a year on the project, he realized that he was going to need a significant amount of money to continue the project.
However, Foushee said he gained plenty of valuable life experience over that year and it has come in handy with his own brand.
“I've never had any experience with clothing besides dressing myself for the past 19 years, my mom dressed me for the first 4 years, so you're probably wondering why someone with little to no experience in fashion or design would start an apparel company,” Foushee said. “We'll that's the great thing about how we've structured the company.”
Foushee will not be doing any of the designing and the goal is to have a user-generated line of clothing. Anyone can send in designs and fans will vote on the designs. The design with the most support will be manufactured.
“We are creating a company and a brand that is inspired by the music we love, responsive to the needs and demands of our fans/customers, and is socially mobile,” Foushee said.
TCU students can buy apparel at campus events or through the Goose Party Facebook page. Goose Party also has a music blog where you can listen and download music and look up upcoming events in the area.
Foushee said he hopes to host musical events around the DFW metroplex.
“I know that most people end up in a career or position that they don't love. Unfortunately that seems like the way life goes. Goose Party is my attempt to beat the odds and do something I love. It would be awesome if students and/or faculty were wearing our apparel. The community has responded overall with enthusiasm and support. My career goals are simple, make enough money to pay the bills and do what I love.”
