Women’s Golf
The 34th-ranked Horned Frogs shot a 301 in both rounds to place seventh in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate over the weekend. TCU earned its sixth top 10 finish in seven tournaments this season. Senior Brooke Beeler tied for fourth individually to lead the Horned Frogs. Beeler birdied her final two holes, as part of five second-round birdies, to record her second straight even-par 71. Sophomore Sanna Nuutinen shot a 76 in both rounds to tie for 30th individually. Freshman April McCoy recorded par on 14 of 18 holes for a second round score of 73 while freshman Alexandra Bonetti birdied back-to-back holes on the back nine.
Track & Field
The track & field program competed at the Arkansas Final Qualifier Friday. Junior Charles Silmon is ranked No. 14 in the nation and earned a personal-best time of 6.65 seconds in the men’s 60-meter dash finals. His time marks the fastest by any Horned Frog since 2006. Silmon also competed in the 200-meters, running 21.12 seconds. Senior Cameron Parker accomplished a top leap of 14.56 meters in the men’s triple jump to take third-place accolades. Junior Chaniqua Corinealdi earned second place with a time of 7.43 seconds in the women’s 60-meter finals after finishing at 7.46 seconds in the preliminaries. She also clocked in 24.19 seconds in the 200-meters.
Men’s Tennis
The men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision on the road to No. 8 Texas Sunday. The Horned Frogs now have a 5-7 overall record. TCU had a tough time in doubles play, falling at the top two court positions. After Texas claimed an early 1-0 advantage, the duo of Daniel Sanchez and Max Stevens claimed the only win of the day for the Horned Frogs. During singles play, the Longhorns swept the Horned Frogs at all six courts. Freshman Facundo Lugones and Sanchez both forced their singles matches into a third set after the team win had been decided for UT.
The team played its first outdoor home match of the season Friday, defeating Arizona 5-2. The Horned Frogs had an early lead, stealing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. JT Sundling and Will Stein sealed the doubles point for the Frogs with a 9-7 decision. Lugones kept the momentum in singles play and took the win at the No. 3 position, earning his fourth consecutive victory. At the No. 2 position, Sundling followed soon with an impressive 6-0, 6-3 straight set win. Stein gave TCU its fifth team win of the season with a 6-4, 6-3 decision from the No. 5 court. After the match was clinched, freshman Nick Chappell added to his team-leading win total.
