The TCU women’s tennis team is one that has never let down its coach, head coach Dave Borelli said.

“There is a fine line between failing and losing, and this team never fails,” Borelli said.

The Lady Frogs have been focusing on school work and individual help on the court this week, he said. The coaching staff has been helping each player with specific issues on which she needs to improve.

The Lady Frogs have yet to have a full lineup on the court because of injuries, Borelli said. Now that some of the injured players are fully recovered, the team is starting to build strength and momentum on the court, he said.

Sophomore Millie Nichols, junior Federica Denti and junior Olivia Smith all are back in action after being sidelined due to injuries.

Despite an injury, freshman Simona Parajova played against Princeton and won her match in two sets, but Borelli said Parajova would not play this week because he wanted her to rest and heal before playing again.

TCU defeated Princeton 5-2 last Saturday. The Lady Frogs earned their fifth win at home, improving their season record to 6-3.

“I thought all of them stepped up. A couple of kids had a rough time, but they’ve won matches other times when others haven’t played as well,” Borelli said.

Borelli said the long term goal for the team was to win the conference and defend the team’s conference title. He said he wanted everyone to know TCU is the best program in the Mountain West before leaving the conference for the Big 12.

TCU returns to the court Sunday against Marquette at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

Marquette lost its last match against No. 66 Indiana 6-1. The Golden Eagles arrive at TCU with an 8-3 season record.
