The TCU men’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a 19-point halftime deficit against Oregon State, losing to the Beavers 101-81 Monday night in the quarterfinals of the Collegiate Basketball Invitational in Corvallis, Ore.
The loss ended TCU's season. The Frogs finished the year 18-15, a seven game improvement in the win column from a squad that went 11-22 last year.
The Beavers shot 68.8 percent (22-of-32) from the field in the first half to get out to a 53-34 lead at the break.
The lead was too large for TCU to make a run in the second half.
An Amric Fields jumper cut the OSU lead to 77-62 with 8:40 left in the game, but the Frogs wouldn’t get closer than that.
TCU shot 42 percent (31-of-74) from the field for the game, including a dismal 30.8 percent (12-of-39) in the first half. The Frogs shot 8-of-30 from three-point range.
Junior forward Garlon Green led TCU with 21 points. Freshman guard Kyan Anderson added 16.
Senior forward J.R. Cadot had a team-high eight rebounds to go along with 15 points in his final game as a Frog.
TCU assistant coach Bill Wucyznski filled in for head coach Jim Christian Monday night. Christian was unable to make the trip due to a family emergency.
