SGA allocates $500 to Trombone Society

Members of the House of Student Representatives voted to allocate $500 to the Trombone Society Tuesday evening in order to bring professional trombonists to the university to teach students.

Finance committee chairwoman Kari Berdelle said the Trombone Society would bring in professional trombonists from Washington, D.C., and Denmark for a Fort Worth trombone summit. The group was also planning to bring a professor from Texas Tech and a professor from the University of Texas at Austin, she said.

The money would go toward the booking fee for one of the trombonists, she said.

College of Science and Engineering representative Zach Madel said there would be trombone clinics as well as a competition among trombone quartets from the Fort Worth area.

Attempts to contact members of the Trombone Society about the planned event were unsuccessful.

In other business, House members approved a new member of the Finance Committee.

College of Science and Engineering representative Ryan Gessouroun became the seventh member of the Finance Committee.

According to the new finance guidelines, the Finance Committee is made up of eight House members plus the Finance Chair.
