TCU sports weekend recap

The No. 42 women’s golf team finished in fourth place at the Ping/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., after seniors Rachel Raastad and Brooke Beeler led the team into the final round of the tournament.

The PING/ASU Invitational featured nine teams ranked in the top 25, including five in the top 10.

The Lady Frogs shot 292 Friday, 294 Saturday and 293 Sunday, falling only 22 shots off first place UCLA with a total of 879.

Raastad carded a 68, recording four birdies and one bogey to tie for third place individually. It was her best finish in a tournament since the 2010 Mountain West Championships where she came in second place.

Beeler recorded her second eagle of the spring. She added a pair of birdies for her final round score of 74 and the tie for 24th individually.

Freshman April McCoy and sophomore Sanna Nuutinen added 75 and 76 in the final round.
