The university now has the opportunity to speak to students from schools all across Texas with no travel necessary.
A teleconferencing studio in the Center for Instructional Services building allowed the university to have virtual college tours with younger school students from schools anywhere in Texas, Graham McMillan, student body vice president for external affairs, said.
McMillan spoke to dozens of students from approximately 15 schools Thursday morning from the studio, he said. Schools from El Paso, Houston and Colleyville, among others, participated in the virtual college fair.
“It was really cool getting to sell TCU honestly to all these younger kids,” McMillan said.
He talked about student life, the importance of going to college and how to prepare for higher education. The students then asked McMillan questions about the university, he said.
Jess Price, creative director for media production support services, said the tour was the third one conducted this semester by the Office of Admission.
Price said he hoped the studio would become a useful tool for the university in the future. The studio would be completely high definition by the fall.
The studio not only was used for admissions purposes, he said. Career Services used it for long distance job interviews, and international students could have the chance to talk to their professors when they return to their home countries.
