The TCU baseball team will play Manhattan College tonight in the first of a three-game set at Lupton Stadium.
The Horned Frogs are coming off a 4-1 loss to No. 9 Texas A&M on Tuesday night.
Preston Morrison (6-0, 1.35 ERA) will take the mound for TCU, making his first Friday night start of the season. Morrison, a true freshman, is 3-0 since moving out of the bullpen and into the starting rotation earlier this month.
The Frogs were held to just three hits Tuesday night — two of which came from Jantzen Witte, whose home run over the left field wall in the fifth inning gave TCU a 1-0 lead at the time. Kyle Von Tungeln had the Frogs’ other hit in the game, a single to center field in the bottom of the ninth.
TCU’s poor showing on offense overshadowed an impressive starting job from left-hander Brandon Finnegan, who held the Aggies scoreless through 5 1/3 innings, striking out three and giving up just three hits.
TCU (23-15 overall, 11-4 Mountain West) and Manhattan (20-20) are meeting for the fourth time. The Frogs are 3-0 all-time against the Jaspers.
Manhattan has won six of its last seven games but has struggled on the road this season. The Jaspers have just eight wins in 28 road games.
