Reports of Tanner Brock’s transfer to UTEP ‘complete rumor,’ brother says

Reports of former TCU linebacker Tanner Brock transferring to UTEP are nothing more than rumors, his brother said Tuesday.

Logan Brock, a former TCU tight end who signed a free agent contract with the Houston Texans on Saturday, said in a text message to TCU 360 that his brother going to UTEP is a "complete rumor."

Reports of Tanner Brock's transfer started circulating Monday when former TCU linebacker Tank Carder told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas that Brock might be going to UTEP.

"Last thing I heard, he was going to UTEP," Carder told the radio show. "He's going over there with his brother and sit out a year and try to get back in it."

Tanner Brock's brother, Cooper Brock, is a sophomore defensive end at UTEP.

Carder said on his Twitter account Monday night that he never confirmed anything.

Steven Shults, director of compliance at UTEP, said Tuesday that the school received a blanket statement sent to every school in the country allowing them to contact Tanner Brock.

UTEP officials declined to comment when asked if the school had contacted Tanner Brock about a possible transfer.

Tanner Brock was one of four TCU football players dismissed from the team after being arrested Feb. 14 on suspiscion of selling drugs.

Under NCAA transfer rules, Brock would have to sit out a year before getting back on the field, leaving him with one season of eligibility.
