Freshman golfer Julien Brun tied for second Thursday at the NCAA Championships at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Brun shot a final round 67 to finish the three-day tournament at two-under par. Brun's Thursday round was the second-lowest of the day behind only a 66 from UCLA's Patrick Cantlay, who recently won the Ben Hogan Award for the nation's top golfer.
Illinois' Thomas Pieters took home medalist honors with a final round 71 to finish five-under par for the tournament.
Brun's runner-up finish was tied for the best in school history at the tournament. PGA Tour player J.J. Henry tied for second place in 1998, while Adam Rubinson tied for second in 2002.
TCU finished 27th in the team competition.
