TCU football practice on Tuesday was finished indoors after an afternoon storm popped up, but that didn't cool anything off for coaches and players. When head coach Gary Patterson walked up to reporters afterward, his shirt was still soaked, his hair matted and his visor dripping with sweat.

"It's been really hot and humid," Patterson said. "Let me show you."

Wringing a part of his shirt up, Patterson squeezed the fabric as a pool of sweat formed on the floor.

“I haven’t even done anything,” Patterson said, laughing. “But I bet I lost ten pounds today.”

Here are a few other highlights from Tuesday’s practice:

Graves returns to team

Antonio Graves returned back to the Horned Frogs, but switched to a new position. The former safety will now play at linebacker.

“He was moving to linebacker or tailback,” Patterson said. "That's where we needed him."

Graves had issues with academics earlier in the summer, but he was cleared to play with the team last week. He has been practicing with the team since Friday, Patterson said.

Patterson said Graves’ speed and coverage would be a benefit to the linebackers on the team, along with adding more players to the linebackers depth chart.

Graves had limited play as a linebacker during spring, but Patterson said Graves’ spring play was “fair.” Patterson said he expects linebackers coach Randy Shannon to improve Graves’ abilities as other linebackers had improved.

“[Marcus] Mallett wasn’t a very good linebacker last year, but Shannon’s got him playing way better now,” Patterson said. “We’ll see if he can have the same magic on Antonio [Graves].”

Jeremy Coleman switches sides

Graves isn’t the only defensive player making a position switch. Jeremy Coleman moved from defensive tackle to offensive guard. Patterson said the move is to help acquire depth on the offensive line.

Coleman did not see action last season. He played in 12 games in 2010, recording six tackles, one for a loss.

James Dunbar released from team

Offensive tackle James Dunbar was officially dismissed from the team this past week, Patterson said. Dunbar had been struggling with grades over the summer and had not practiced all August. Patterson confirmed that academic issues were the official reason Dunbar was dismissed from the team.
