Chris Milyo Band at Scat Jazz
1) Enjoy a night of blues at Scat Jazz Lounge on West 4th. Chris McGuire and Stefan Karlsson will tribute tenor battles throughout history during their Thursday night show. The frequent Scat performers hit the stage at 9 p.m. with an incorporation of jazz and funk. Scat Lounge is open from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursdays.
Canoe Tour at Fort Worth Nature Center
2) Friday night, take part in a canoe tour with family or friends at the Fort Worth Nature Center. From 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. enjoy an unconventional night of fun. Canoes, paddles, and lifejackets are provided and participation in the event costs $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Children must be at least 5 years old and a signed parental waiver is required.
Fort Worth Music Festival in Cowtown
3) On Saturday, enjoy a night of music at the World’s Largest Honkey Tonk. Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, Pat Green and more take the stage beginning at 10:30 p.m. The show at Billy Bob’s Texas costs $35 in advance. This is one show you don’t want to miss.
Sunday Funday at Brownstone Kitchen
4) Weekly Sunday specials at Brownstone Kitchen will include Build Your Own Bloody Mary, $2 can beers, $3 chilled shots and $4 frozen drinks. You can also munch on half price appetizers while listening to live music. These specials are hot from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. every Sunday.
Labor Day 5K
5) Join the Fort Worth Runners Club for a Labor Day 5K. Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday the race starts at Montgomery Plaza off W 7th and Carrol St. The race is $8 for members and $12 for non-members. There will also be a 15K run for kids with a fee of $5.
DFW Free Day of Yoga
6) Local yoga studio Bikram Yoga Fort Worth will join studios in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and offer free classes on September 3. The following class times are free: 5:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
A Midsummer Night in Texas
7) What would happen if Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream met the Lone Star State? Find out this Saturday at 8 p.m. at Pantagleize Theatre Company on W Rio Grande Street in Fort Worth. Entrance for show, titled A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Texas ranges from $13 to $20.
