Here are three TCU players to watch for Saturday night against Grambling State:
Offense: Trevone Boykin, Quarterback, RsFr
Back-up quarterback Trevone Boykin came to TCU as the no. 24 ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country. The redshirt freshman earned district MVP and honorable mention all-state accolades as a senior. Boykin rushed for 1,799 yards and 30 touchdowns while adding 2,930 yards and 28 touchdowns through the air.
Defense: Kenny Cain, Linebacker, Sr.
Kenny Cain is the lone senior starting on defense. The second team All-Mountain West selection led TCU with 72 tackles in 2011 despite missing two games to injury. Cain finished last season with three tackles for loss, including a sack. He earned best linebacker in the state of Texas honors on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football All-Texas College Team.
Special Teams: Jaden Oberkrom, Place kicker, Fr.
True freshman Jaden Oberkrom will take over all place kicking and kickoff duties for the Frogs. The Arlington native replaces Ross Evans, who left TCU as the Mountain West career scoring leader. In high school, Oberkrom earned Star-Telegram Special Teams Player of the Week honors after hitting a 60-yard field goal. He had 36 touchbacks on 62 kickoffs during his senior year.
