Lady Panthers drop home volleyball opener to Arlington Bowie

 The Paschal Lady Panthers lost their first home volleyball game of the season to Arlington Bowie, 3-1.

Bowie earned the win behind strong serving and capitalization on the Panther mistakes.

The Lady Panthers started the first game strong with a 3-0 lead in the first few minutes of play. Lady Panthers and Lady Volunteers continued playing a close game, each team matching point for point. Senior Giselle Sigala and senior De’Yanna had several kills to bring the score to 16-12. Toward the end of the first game, the Panthers hit their stride with big saves and big blocks to finish the game 25-21.

At the top of the second game, Arlington Bowie took control and held a steady lead throughout the game. The Panthers began to make a come back at 9-5, but the Vols gained momentum and began extending their lead. Arlington Bowie took the second game, 25-18.

The games remained close in score with the exception of game three. After a strong opening by the Panthers, Arlington Bowie dominated, 25-13.

Bowie took the lead early in game four, 12-7. But the Panthers continued to answer back, 13-13. The score remained close with consecutive kills by junior Carly Morris, senior Kamille Jones and senior Diamand Williams, but the Lady Vols maintained the lead, 22-20. The Lady Panthers and the Lady Vols fought back and forth for 5 consecutive possessions until the score was 27-27. Arlington Bowie eventually finished with a 29-27 victory.

The Lady Panthers’ next game is Sept. 14 against North Crowley High School.
