Paschal loss guarantees another losing season

Paschal was shut out by the Arlington Colts Thursday, extending the Panthers’ district losing streak to 19 games.

The Arlington Colts (7-1) won 54-0 to drop Paschal’s record to 2-6.  Paschal’s last district victory came against North Crowley in 2009.

The loss also means Paschal will have another losing season. The Panthers have not had a winning season since at least the early 1970’s.
The Colts’ first possession ended in a missed field goal. Their next drive ended when senior Armando Gomez intercepted senior quarterback Connor Huffman in the end zone.
The Panthers’ second possession ended in a blocked punt, which gave Arlington the ball on the Paschal 1-yard line. Senior running back Brandon Washington then scored a touchdown on the next play to give the Colts an early 7-0 lead.
Junior quarterback Gibson Duwe returned to play on that second possession. Duwe had not played since the game against Dallas Sunset on Sept. 21.
Duwe completed five out of 19 passes for 26 yards and two interceptions. Sophomore quarterback William Floyd, who had played every snap in the last four games, finished with four out of 13 passes for 13 yards and two interceptions.
Later in the first quarter, sophomore running back Raymond Sheard scored a touchdown on an 8-yard run.
Paschal did not have a first down in the first quarter and had negative 8 yards of total offense in the first 12 minutes.
After a 2-yard punt from Floyd, the Colts scored a touchdown on a 26-yard pass from Huffman to junior wide receiver Dontha Robinson.
Later in the second quarter, Washington scored his second touchdown of the game on another 1-yard run to give Arlington a 28-0 lead.
Huffman hooked up again with Robinson on an 11-yard touchdown pass to increase the Colts’ lead to 34-0.
As time expired in the first half, Arlington scored a field goal to make the score 37-0 at the half.
The Panthers had 23 total yards and two first downs in the half.
Senior Ben Noel and junior Reid McDonald each intercepted passes in the third quarter for Paschal.
Late in the third quarter, Sheard scored his second touchdown of the game with a 10-yard run to give the Colts a 44-0 lead.
In the fourth quarter, junior quarterback Michael Gray rushed for a touchdown from 2 yards out to make the score 51-0 Arlington.
A late field goal by the Colts made the final score 54-0.
Paschal’s next game is against North Crowley at Farrington Filed on Nov. 2.
