Curtis Luper and DeMontie Cross are TCU's new receivers and linebackers coaches, TCU athletics announced today.

Luper, the receivers coach, was a running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Auburn until 2012. Luper was a part of the 2010-11 BCS championship-winning Tigers team and was recognized as a top-25 recruiter by Rivals.com.

Luper was a running backs coach at Oklahoma State, New Mexico and Stephen F. Austin.

Luper began his playing days at Oklahoma State (1984-87) before serving five years in the United States Army as an air traffic controller.

Luper completed his eligibility at Stephen F. Austin as an All-Southland Conference running back in 1993 with nine touchdowns and a team high 1,054 rushing yards. Following his college career, he went professional by signing with the Houston Oilers.

Cross, the linebackers coach, was a hire from conference foe Kansas, where he held the same coaching position. A native of Missouri, Cross has experience at both the college and the professional level. After spending five years (2006-10) with the Buffalo Bills at various positions, Cross was at Wisconsin for the 2011 season as a special teams and safeties coach.

Cross also coached at Missouri, Iowa State and Sam Houston State.

Cross played college football at Missouri and had 415 career tackles as a safety. He was a second-team all-conference selection for the Tigers in 1995 and 1996.

Cross replaces Randy Shannon, who left TCU to take the same coaching position at Arkansas. Luper replaces Trey Haverty, who accepted a coaching position at Texas Tech.
