Frogs look to even season series with Baylor

The TCU men’s basketball team will return home to face Baylor after dropping its sixth consecutive Big 12 game.

Baylor won the first meeting this season 51-40 on Jan. 12 in Waco. TCU held a 22-21 halftime lead, but a jumper by junior forward Cory Jefferson at the 15-minute mark gave Baylor the final lead change of the game.

The Frogs shot 33 percent from the floor in the loss while Baylor shot 40.7 percent. Freshman guard Charles Hill Jr. made his first career start against Baylor and led the Frogs with 12 points and eight rebounds.

TCU (9-10, 0-6) fell to West Virginia 71-50 Wednesday to take sole possession of last place in the Big 12. Guard Kyan Anderson led the team in scoring for the fifth time this season with 19 points.

Baylor (13-5 overall, 4-1 Big 12) moved into a tie for second place in the Big 12 Wednesday with a 64-54 win over Oklahoma State. Senior guard Pierre Jackson scored in double digits (18 points) for his 25th straight game, a streak that leads the Big 12.

Freshman center Isaiah Austin and Jefferson combined for 11 blocks against the Cowboys. The pair had five against TCU in Waco.

The 7-foot-1-inch Austin gives the Bears a size advantage down low against the Frogs’ forwards Adrick McKinney and Devonta Abron who both stand at 6 feet 8 inches. TCU's tallest player is 6-foot-10-inch injured freshman center Aaron Durley.

The Bears have the conference’s second-best shooting percentage (.461) and scoring offense (75.9). Jackson leads the Big 12 with 18.6 points per game and Austin ranks second in rebounds with 8.9 per game.

This marks the 118th meeting between the two schools with Baylor holding an 88-81 overall lead. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
