Fort Worth police are investigating the death of junior strategic communication major Thomas Boone Pickens IV.
Police were contacted by hospital officials Tuesday and notified of Pickens' death, according to Officer Sharon Neal, a police department spokesperson. Police began their preliminiary investigation from the hospital.
Neal said Pickens was taken by a private vehicle to Baylor All Saints Hospital, where he was prononuced dead.
According to a police report, officers arrived at the Century Colonial Park Apartments on 1800 Rogers Road at 9:33 a.m., after responding to a call of a deceased person.
Medical examiner records indicate that Pickens time of death was 9:20 a.m.
It is unclear whether the Rogers Road address was Pickens’ residence. The TCU Frog Calls directory listed his current address as 3511 Corto Ave.
Pickens, whose hometown was listed as Austin in the Frog Calls directory, was the grandson of T. Boone Pickens Jr., the billionaire oil magnate.
Neal said Tuesday that the investigation is continuing.
"We're looking into all aspects," Neal said.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Kathy Cavins-Tull released a written statement about Pickens' death Tuesday morning.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of this member of our community and our hearts and thoughts are with Ty’s family at this time," Cavins-Tull said. "Staff members are available if students need to speak with someone about this sad news.”
