TCU trails Texas 26-23 at half

TCU freshman guards Kamy Cole and Zahna Medley combined for 18 total points in the first half, but a late surge from Texas sent them into halftime up 26-23.

Cole hit her first three shots of the game, scoring seven points in the opening three minutes. TCU opened on a 9-0 run until Texas guard Chassidy Fussell hit the LongH]horns first bucket of the game at the 16 minute mark.

TCU opened up a nine point margin again when Medley made a deep 3-pointer at the 8:45 mark. Texas resorted to its reserves for offense as Lithuania-native GiGi Mazionyte came in off the bench and hit a 3-pointer to pull Texas within two at the six minute mark. 

Texas took its first lead of the game when Mazionyte found Fussell for a 3-point shot with 4:34 remaining to put the Longhorns up 22-21.

TCU was held scoreless from the field by the Longhorns defense from the 9:03 mark until guard Donielle Breaux scored on an easy layup with :27 seconds remaining in the first half.

The opening half was dominated by underclassmen. Eight out of the 10 starters were sophomores with six being freshman. 

Texas sophomore Nneka Enemkpali finished the first half with six points and 10 rebounds. Freshman center Imani McGee-Stafford is on pace for another double-double with nine points and five rebounds. 

Besides Cole and Medley's nine points, Breaux is the only other Frog to find the scorers sheet with five points. Both sides shot 32 percent from the field, but TCU forced 13 first half turnovers from Texas.
