Men’s golf team to start play in Hawaii

Mens golf team to start play in Hawaii

The TCU men’s golf team is set to play at the Amer Ari Invitational Wednesday. The tournament is being held at Waikoloa Kings’ Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

The Frogs are fresh off a runner-up finish at their spring season opener last week at the Arizona Intercollegiate held at Vistoso Golf Club. The Frogs finished the two-day, three-round event at -6 overall. They were only two strokes behind the tournament team champion, No. 3 New Mexico.

Sophomore Julien Brun completed the Arizona tournament posting his 21st sub-70 score in his 48 career rounds as a Frog. Senior Eli Cole joined Brun in the top ten for the second time in three tournaments.

The No. 16 Frogs will meet several top ten teams on the Hawaiian course. Some of the competing teams will be No. 2 Texas, No. 6 Washington, No. 7 UCLA, No. 8 USC and No. 10 Georgia Tech.

The Waikoloa King's Course is 7,074 yards that goes around black lava flow with wide fairways framed by palm trees and Hawaiian flowers, according to the course website.

The scores from the three rounds can be followed at golfstat.com.
