Women’s golf aims to defend title at Central District Invitational

Womens golf aims to defend title at Central District Invitational

After a fourth-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, the university women’s golf team will compete Monday at the Central District Invitational in Florida.

Junior Sanna Nuutinen from Helsinki, Finland, led the Frogs last week, finishing eighth individually with a three over par. It was her fifth top-10 finish in her career.

Sophomore Alexandra Bonetti had her best career finish with a 74 and also tied for 12th place individually.

The fourth-place finish in Puerto Rico was the Frogs’ best result in both the fall and spring seasons.

TCU will attempt to defend its title at the Central District Invitational. The Frogs won the event last year after overcoming a two-stroke deficit before beginning the final round.

The field will consist of 12 teams, including three teams ranked within the top 25–No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 22 Michigan State and No. 25 Iowa State.

The tournament will be held at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parish, Fla. and features two days of competition. Scores will be posted at Golfstat.com.
