The 34th-ranked women's tennis team improved to 5-1 with wins against Vanderbilt and Pepperdine this weekend.
The Horned Frogs returned to action for the first time in two weeks on Saturday and beat the Pepperdine Waves 6-1. They also played their second of three-straight ranked opponents.
The Horned Frogs then beat No. 17 Vanderbilt in a close match that ended 4-3 on Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The match was tied 3-3 before Olivia Smith beat Laura Mira giving the Horned Frogs their fifth win of the season.
It was TCU’s first win over a top-20 ranked opponent since a 4-2 win over No. 20 Florida State in 2009.
“Its been a while since we beat a top 20 program so that’s amazing,” said head coach Dave Borelli. “It just shows that if you compete hard and you don’t quit anything is possible."
The Frogs next match will be against Arizona on Friday at 2 p.m at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
