Oklahoma State University (OSU) and TCU, both recipients of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball weekly honors, will face off on Wednesday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
Oklahoma State’s Toni Young was named last week's conference player of the week. She averaged 17.5 points and 17 rebounds in victories over West Virginia and Kansas State. The senior recorded her 10th and 11th double-doubles of the season in those wins, in route to collecting her second award for player of the week this season.
TCU’s Zahna Medley received the Phillips 66 Big 12 Freshman of the Week accolade for the fourth time this season. Medley averaged 21 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists last week and scored a career-high of 35 points against Kansas, achieving the fifth-highest point total in program history.
Medley joins Baylor's Brittney Griner as the only league players to net 35 points in a single game this season.
Oklahoma State also brings a talented freshman to the game in guard Brittney Martin. She and Medley shared freshmen of the week honors on Jan. 21.
TCU (7-17 overall, 0-13 Big 12) will try to avenge a 76-59-road loss to Oklahoma State (18-6, 7-6 Big 12) on Feb. 5. Cowgirl Tiffany Bias led all scorers with 19 points and Young finished with 18 points along with 14 rebounds.
The Frogs shot 11-of-24 from 3-point territory in the earlier match-up, including six 3-point field goals from sophomore Natalie Ventress. She finished with a game-high of 24 points, but the rest of the team shot 12-of-42 from the field.
The teams will be meeting for the sixth time in history. Oklahoma State has been leading the all-time series, 4-1, with the exception for the Horned Frog victory in 2007.
Tip-off is scheduled at 7 p.m. from the DMC. The game will be available online through Frog Vision.
