The TCU Schieffer School of Journalism partners up with ESPN today for a symposium titled “The Emerging Role of Women in Sports Journalism” at 5 p.m in the Brown Lupton University Union Ballroom.
ESPN’s digital media strategy project manager and chief of staff to ESPN’s senior vice-president for digital media and print Joslyn Dalton will moderate a panel of six female sports journalists from the network. Panelists will include Jena Janovy, member of the ESPN editorial board; Jemele Hill, ESPN columnist and contributor; Michelle Steele, ESPN anchor and reporter; Jane McManus, football writer for ESPN New York; and Lori Higginbotham, multimedia producer.
An open, one hour meet-and-greet session precedes the symposium. Faculty, staff and students are all welcome attend and talk to the panelists before the event.
Rob King, senior vice president for digital media and print, visited the Schieffer School in November 2012 which lead to the collaboration between the journalism school and ESPN in creating the symposium.
The panelists will also spend time on campus to meet with Schieffer School students and work with TCU student media along with other areas of the university.
The symposium is free for all attendees and prior registration is not required.
