The Frogs will face Kansas for the second time in March to open the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship tournament at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
The bracket features Baylor, the No. 1 team in the country currently riding a 27-game winning streak, as the top seed in the tournament. The 2-seed is Iowa State, one of the two teams along with Oklahoma State that TCU defeated to earn regular season conference wins.
Oklahoma is the 3-seed with Texas Tech listed as the 4-seed despite both finishing 11-7 in conference and 21-9 overall. Oklahoma State is the 5-seed, Big 12 newcomer West Virginia earned the 6-seed and Kansas received the 7-seed after defeating TCU 74-67 in Lawrence, Kan., earlier this week.
Kansas State, Texas and TCU round out the 10 teams.
All regular season participants receive a berth into the conference tournament. The bracket listed TCU as the 10-seed and Kansas as the 7-seed.
The two sides met for the first time Feb. 13 in Fort Worth. The Jayhawks (17-12 overall, 8-10 Big 12) defeated the Horned Frogs (9-20 overall, 2-16 Big 12) after converting a layup with 14 seconds remaining to give them a 76-75 victory.
TCU's freshman guard Zahna Medley scored a career-high 35 points, including seven 3-pointers in the first match-up. Medley's 35 points combined with backcourt-mate Kamy Cole's 18 totaled more than two-thirds of TCU's offensive production.
Tuesday's match-up featured 11 lead changes before the end of the game. The university held a lead in the closing minutes of the game before the Jayhawks pulled away. All-America candidate Carolyn Davis recorded a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead Kansas to the win.
Medley, who had that 35-point performance against Kansas at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, found the basket only two times but managed to record 12 assists. Sophomore Natalie Ventress and Cole combined for 29 points in the loss.
First round matches begin Friday at 6 p.m. when Kansas State faces Texas.
Tip-off for the TCU and Kansas match-up is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Friday with the winner to face Iowa State Saturday evening.
