Three TCU athletes qualified to compete at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend.
Chaniqua Corinealdi, Charles Silmon and Lorraine Ugen will be going to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas for the meet. This is the second time competing in the NCAA Championships for each of them.
Corinealdi qualified for the 60-meter dash. She placed 17th last year at this meet, earning an honorable mention All-America Honors.
Corinealdi is TCU’s first Big 12 Champion after winning the 60-meter dash in the championships this year.
Silmon qualified for the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.65 seconds from the preliminaries at the Big 12 Championships this year. He is also one of TCU’s first Big 12 Champions.
Silmon placed 14th in the 60-meter dash last year at the NCAA Championships and earned second team All-America Honors.
Lorraine Ugen will compete in the long jump this weekend. She earned her qualifying mark from the Big 12 Championships with a jump of 6.37 meters.
Ugen will compete on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Corinealdi and Silmon will run back-to-back races on Friday starting at 6:55 p.m.
If Corinealdi or Silmon place in the top eight, they will race again on Saturday night starting at 7 p.m.
