Women’s tennis beats Houston 4-0

The TCU women's tennis team got its ninth-straight win after beating Houston 4-0 Saturday. 

The 33rd ranked Horned Frogs improved to 12-1 for the season and the Cougars fell to 12-6. 

TCU also improved to 29-7 all-time in matches against Houston.

The Cougars struck first in doubles but TCU's No.2 duo of Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram returned the favor with an 8-5 win over Elena Kordolaimi and Jo Garvey. 

TCU's No.1 and 42nd ranked duo, Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith, put the Horned Frogs in the lead when they beat Charlotte Philips and Rocio Martin 8-6, giving the Hotned Frogs the point for doubles.

No. 65 ranked Stephanie Tan put TCU at a 2-0 lead with her 6-1,6-2 win over Kordolaimia at No. 1 singles.

Monika Sirilova followed with her third-straight singles win, a 6-1,6-0 triumph over Dionne Sanders giving TCU the lead 3-0. 

Simona Patajova secured the win for the Horned Frogs with a 6-1,6-4 win over Fernandez at No.4 singles.

The remaining three singles matches were called after TCU clinched a win with Nichols and Denti leading by a set at No.4 and No.5 singles.

TCU returns to action Sunday when it faces Rice at the Owls Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
