It is hard to top the recent release of Justin Timberlake's “The 20/20 Experience.” However, this week proves another great week of new music by artists such as Depeche Mode, OneRepublic and Lil Wayne.
Nothing is better than constantly having the top people in music releasing albums and singles one right after another. It is always fun discovering and hearing new music.
Today is the release of Depeche Mode's “Delta Machine” album, which includes their hit single “Heaven.”
According to the iTunes description of the album, “Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher assign the sensual ambiance of past albums to the technological advancements of today – composing a new era of dance rhythms around familiar, fragile emotions.”
Based on the entire album preview on iTunes that led up to its release today, the album sounds like it will be a hit.
Today is also the release of the third studio album by OneRepublic called “Native.” It features the single “What You Wanted,” which was the first available single on iTunes from the album and also includes “If I Lose Myself,” which the band performed on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” According to Billboard, “Frontman Ryan Tedder said the new album represented a fresh start for the Colorado-based pop-rock band.” This is definitely an album that could top charts after its release.
Another huge album to look out for today is Lil Wayne’s “I Am Not a Human Being II.” He has been in the spotlight recently for more than just releasing a new album, though. Lil Wayne just got out of the hospital after suffering from seizures and falling into a coma after an alleged overdose on sizzurp. According to the Los Angeles Times, sizzurp is a “cough-syrup-laced concoction of many names and has been gaining popularity in hip hop culture.”
Lil Wayne’s album will feature collaborations with artists such as 2 Chainz, Soulja Boy, Juicy J, Drake and more. The release of this much-anticipated album could either be a hit or miss because the first part to “I Am Not a Human Being” was not as strong compared to his “Carter” album series.
Lastly, for all the country fans out there, Blake Shelton, the artist who performed at TCU last fall, has released his album “Based On A True Story.” It includes his number one single “Sure Be Cool If You Did” and is expected to top the country music charts.
According to Shelton, every song on the album is relatable to his life.
“I’ve either been through those situations or I’m going through them right now,” Shelton said in a Billboard article. “I listened to it and thought ‘This is my life – from start to finish.’ So that’s what we’ll call it. We’ll say it’s based on a true story.” This album is definitely a country music chart topper.
