The No. 7 men’s golf team will begin competition at the annual Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the University of Texas April 13 and 14.
The 14-team field consists of all Golfweek/Sagarin top-100 ranked teams, including No. 3 UT, No. 4 New Mexico and No. 14 Oklahoma State.
“We’ve played the tournament a lot of times, so we pretty much know what we are getting there,” senior Daniel Jennevret said. “The goal is to win, but we will see how it ends up.”
Freshman Paul Barjon, who won his first individual title at the U.S. Intercollegiate, said he is not thinking of his previous victory heading into the tournament.
“It doesn’t change anything about the next tournament that I won the last one,” Barjon said. “I know that I can play good like the last tournament, but it’s a new tournament, new course and maybe new conditions. I’m going to practice a lot the days before and try and do my best.”
The Frogs look at continuing their success where they have placed in the top three at seven of their past nine tournaments this season.
“Golf is a game that you try to make as many good decisions as you can, and sometimes it’s your day and sometimes it's not,” head coach Bill Montigel said. “But overall this year, these kids have done a great job of preparing and working hard, and I think that is one of the reasons we have had a lot success.”
