No. 6 TCU men’s golf to duel No. 8 Georgia Tech

The No. 6 TCU men’s golf team will compete against No. 8 Georgia Tech on Friday in Atlanta, Ga.

The dual match will take place at Capital City Club's Crabapple Course, which is also the host site for this year’s NCAA Championships later this month.

Head coach Bill Montigel said the match is an opportunity to learn the course in preparation for the championships.

The Frogs have four players ranked No. 81 or better, while Georgia Tech has six players ranked No. 166 or better in the latest Golfweek rankings.

TCU’s six players traveling to the match include No. 4-ranked sophomore Julien Brun, seniors Pontus Gad, No. 65, Daniel Jennevret, No. 80, and Eli Cole, No. 81 and sophomores Sarosh Adi and Thomas Mantovanini.

Senior Eli Cole said this gives the team a sneak peek at the course and allows members to formulate a game plan to prepare for nationals.

This is the second dual match of the season for the Frogs. The first was a win against Pepperdine in early March.

Montigel added the dual matches to the team’s schedule this year to prepare for a possible trip to the NCAA Championship. The final eight teams of the national championship play in a match-play format after three rounds of stroke play.

After Atlanta, TCU travels directly to Kansas for the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Golf Club beginning on Monday.
